Small Christian Communities
Small Christian Communities (SCC) consists of groups
of St. Pascal Parishioners (about 8-10 to a group) who meet once a week for six-week periods in Lent. Please join us as we
explore and learn how to we can live like St. Francis.
The Lent 2017 Session will begin the week of
February 19, 2017. We will be using the book “Living Like Francis Today” by Marci Blum, OSF IBN 1-885996-30-6.
We will be reflecting on six Franciscan themes.
- Live Simply – simplifying our lives by downsizing,
“If you wish to be perfect, go and sell all your possessions and give to the poor.”
- Live Humbly – living humbly by realizing Jesus is present in all people,
“Whoever wishes to be great among you must be your servant, and
whoever wishes to be first among you must be your slave, just as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve. Matthew 20:27-28a
- Live Prayerfully - learning to pray simply,
“Pray then in this way: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name.” Matthew 6:9
- Live Lovingly – caring for the poor and vulnerable,
“Whoever welcomes you welcomes me, and whoever welcomes me welcome the one who sent me.” Matthew 10:40
- Care for Creation – reverencing all of creation
“So out of the ground Creator God formed every animal of the field and every bird of the air, and brought them to the human to see
what the human would call them; and whatever the human called every living creature, that was its name.” Genesis 2:19
Live in Peace – resisting violence with non-violence.
“But I say to you, do not resist an evildoer. If anyone strikes you on the right cheek turn the other also.” Matthew 5:39
