RCIA
The Rite of Christian
Initiation for Adults (RCIA) is a process—people on
a journey of faith. It is through the RCIA process
that adults come into the Church. It's open to those
individuals who are merely inquiring about the
Catholic Church as well as those who have already
decided to become Catholic. Some participants come
from other Christian traditions. Several each year
have never been baptized, and a few are those
individuals who were Baptized Catholic, but never
received religious education or any of the other
sacraments.
Each year the process
begins in September and culminates at the Easter
Vigil in the reception of the Sacraments of Baptism,
Confirmation, and Eucharist.
If you have been
coming to Mass for awhile, but are not Catholic, we
invite you to look deeper into the Catholic Faith.
We invite you to
learn what Catholics believe and do so in an open
and welcoming environment. These sessions also
are opportunities for you to ask those perplexing
and difficult questions you may have about the
Church.
Have You
Told Anyone About the Faith Lately?
One of the
responsibilities we have as baptized
Catholics is to spread the Word of God and
the Good News of Jesus. So many people are
searching for meaning and direction in their
lives. But we have the most to offer to
people --- a relationship with Jesus Christ!
Soon, we will
be starting this year’s Rite of Christian
Initiation of Adults. Sounds complicated, so
what is it? It is the usual process for
people to enter into the Catholic Church. It
is a time for discernment in the Spirit, if
God is truly calling a person to become a
baptized Catholic. It is an opportunity for
those who are already Catholic but missed
out on the sacraments of Holy Communion or
Confirmation.
Most of us
know people who fit into these categories.
Maybe they just need a nudge from you to get
them rolling and on their way to a new phase
in their faith life. Maybe you yourself
suddenly realize that you need to be a part
of this process. Either way, you could be a
messenger of the faith for someone. T
The group will
be meeting on most Sundays beginning in the
Fall and running right up to Easter. The
sessions will take place after the
candidates have been dismissed from Mass. It
is a great way to become part of the Church
and meet some new people, too.
